Quite often I am asked that question while filling up at a gas station, or sitting at a redlight. Most assume that one of the headlights is out, but the real reason is all in the beams. One is a low beam, and the other is the high beam.
I’ll admit, that if I had designed it, I wouldn’t have wanted to do it this way. But I think it has more to do with the actual size of the light, as well as the shape that they needed to make the reflective interior. There is a modification you can do to make the high beam burn dim, but I’d rather not mess with it. It may look a little silly, but it works perfectly.
