Today at lunch I’m taking my truck in to get the 30k mile transmission service.  On the phone they tried to sell me just a fluid change, and claimed that they had a detergent that would clean the transmission filter.  That is not for me.  I told them that I wanted a trans-vac done, which changes every bit of fluid, including that that’s in the torque converter, and I wanted a new filter installed as well.  I’ve done this before myself, and would definately do it this time if I had the equipment, because really it’s a gamble whether you’ll get what you pay for.  It’s so easy for them to claim they’ll do something and just skip right over it.  Like for the filter, I’ll never know if it was changed if I don’t either see them do it or take a look at it sometime down the road w/ my own eyes.

Here’s the video I saw a little while back that has got me a little leary of shelling out the cash to have the service done.  Although I’m going to do it anyways, JiffyLube for sure will not get my business.  The funny thing is the JiffyLube right near my house was completely torn down just a few days ago.  I’m taking it to Midas, and the one here in town you can see them do the work as you wait on it to get done.
