Mom says “don’t put your lives on hold,” but that’s so hard to do. She has some good days, some bad days, some really good days, and some really bad days. She’s only been taking treatment for just over a week now, but that guilty/bad feeling is what I get if I start to want to get out and go do something, even if just for a few, if there’s no one staying with her. And I know that it probably makes her feel bad if we ask if she minds, but that’s only because we care enough to not do what we’d like to do if it makes her feel better to have someone there.
I don’t know of anyone I see in person regularly that reads my blog, but if there happens to be let me just say this. If I seem a little preoccupied at times, different than normal, or even distant occasionally, just know that I have a lot on my mind is the reason. I’m usually pretty good at hiding things, but sometimes that’s what slips through the cracks.
Note: This post is over a year old. Although it's not a fresh post, feel free to comment or share your thoughts anyway. I read and enjoy every comment that is posted here.
So sorry to hear about your mom. Don’t feel guilty about going out. I’m sure she enjoys your company and all that you do for her but she needs to see that you are happy and enjoying your life.
Thank you, Marsha! That means a lot to me
Shane, I don’t know you in person, but sometimes I almost feel as if I do. I agree with Marsha. I think your Mom might rest easier (if only for a short time) if she knew you were going out and doing something for you. I have been through this. I know it’s hard. And you don’t want to lose any moments either.
Thoughts are with you; you know that!
