Saturday – Dad learned about a carshow happening in Ducktown, TN a few weeks ago, and had been talking to someone that was organizing it about entering his ’69 Camaro in it. It was put off one week due to rain, but honestly couldnt’ have occurred on a better day. It was a bit windy, but nice and sunny out. Without trying to be bias, I really think my Dad should have one in the “Original” class, instead of a Dodge Viper that was one of the 5 to place in that class. Dad’s Camaro really should have been in an “Original/Unrestored” class instead. I mean, a stock ’96 or 97 ‘Viper versus an all original unrestored ’69 Camaro SS 396/375hp, which would you pick? But even without winning, it was fun. This was the first time in years and years that we’ve all went to a show together. The best part was getting to spend the day with my Aunt & Uncle that I don’t get to see very often. They have a place up there that they stay at pretty often, so we hung out with our Aunt and made some lunch for everyone. We talked and talked, and laughed like crazy about some things. It was good again to spend time with her, especially since she’s so much like Mom.
After making sure that it’s totally okay with Mom, and that my Dad will be with her, Chase and I are leaving in just a few minutes to go to the Fall Rod Run in Pigeon Forge. We went up to the one this past Spring, but even after going many times over the past 8 or 9 years, this will be the first Fall one that we’ve gone to. You hear different things about which is actually better, but regardless, it’ll be nice to get out of Dalton for a little while. We’ll be back home late tonight sometime, depending on if we get stuck in traffic again, and will hopefully have a much needed good time.

I’m out of town working for my brother again this week, and spending a majority of it up in Loudon, Tennessee. As soon as we get a job done there, we’ll probably be doing a bit of work in Knoxville, and then head towards middle Georgia.
Anyways back to the point of this post, to show how foggy it was this morning when we left the hotel. This was even after the sun had burnt some of it off. And what you don’t get to experience through the picture, the nasty thick smell of the mushroom plant a mile or so down the road, ugh!
The closest I have really ever been to seeing a Christmas parade is getting blocked into work a couple of times by the one that Dalton has. They line up on Waugh Street, and by the time 5 o’clock rolls around, our driveway is blocked.
So yesterday I went up to Chattanooga w/ my friend Ashley to check out Chattanooga’s Christmas Parade. It started at 6, and lasted over an hour, and was pretty neat. They had lots of service men and women there, tons of twirlers, about a dozen or so Corvettes, and a bunch of other stuff in it. I called time/temp as we left, and it was supposedly 36° out, but I swear it felt much colder. It was pretty cool though; I enjoyed it
I’ve had this entire week off to help try to catch my brother up on his work, and we have been running on little sleep but knocking stuff out.
On Monday, we started the day by driving down to Suwanee, Georgia. I had never been there before, but from the little bit that we got to see, it was a neat clean city. Of course being down towards where it was, Atlanta, traffic was pretty heavy thoroughout the whole time we were there. What I liked about it, they had the Zoning Ordinances that restricted new buildings to all look similiar to the existing buildings rather than all being different with loud colors and such. It also limited where the signs for businesses could go. All of the buildings down there were a modern clean looking brown and tan brick and they all blended in nicely with each other. So no eyesore looking businesses.

We had planned to go to Rod Run up in Pigeon Forge, TN this weekend, but 70% chance rain on Saturday has pretty much killed the plans. We’ve went the past 7 years and lucked out w/o it raining at all. But my guess is that when it gets rainy, everyone will pack up and leave because it actually starts on Thursday and lasts through Saturday. One of my buddies is betting that it won’t be dead, but my thoughts are you can’t really cruise the strip w/ it raining, and people aren’t going to be out walking around looking at cars w/ it raining.
Oh well, maybe we’ll make it to the one in the Fall or the next Spring one in ’09.
Because it´s only when you’re tested that you truly discover who you are. And it’s only when you’re tested that you discover who you can be. The person that you want to be does exist, somewhere in the other side of hard work and faith, and belief and beyond the heartache and fear of what life has.
