Undoubtedly one of the best things about snow in the south is snow cream. I can’t remember how we made it when we were kids, but the way we did it this time wasn’t bad. Actually it was good enough to put some extra snow in the freezer for another batch once we’re out.
Snow Cream:
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
You mix all of those together really well and then just mix snow in until it became about the consistancy of ice cream. Some recipes include Vanilla flavoring, but I couldn’t find it to use.

Yesterday I officially became a quarter of a century old. I now get a slight bit of a break on auto insurance and can now rent rental cars without paying those ridiculous fees for being under 25.
Twenty-Four was an okay year. Almost identical to the previous few, but hopefully Twenty-Five will prove to be much better. It’s already starting off with a horrible beginning, but hopefully that just means it has no where to go but up from there. Although I must acknowledge that when you think things cannot possibly get any worse, they can. As well as when you think things can’t get any better, they can.
I have been dreading this birthday rolling around for quite some time, mostly because I am disappointed with myself for not being where I thought I would be in life at this age. I would have expected to be married and own my own place by now, but things just haven’t worked out like I had planned out in my head so many years ago. The day came and went, almost as if it was just another day and the age change just hasn’t bothered me like I thought it once would. And I know this is completely because of the circumstances that surround my mom.
We got just enough snow today to have work canceled around lunch time because the roads were becoming so slick and icy. I told the ladies at work as we left for lunch, jokingly, that we were going to go out and make a snowman. Since work ended up being canceled, and we did end up getting a dusting of snow, I followed through and made that snowman
It’s pretty obvious by looking at the road closure map, that we never get enough ice or snow to really make preparing for any really worth it. The way it usually works is if they call for anything, we get nothing. It’s really not that much different for what we got yesterday evening. We only got enough snow to dust the ground to where things are mostly white, but not really enough for it to be enjoyable—just a mess. But since the temperatures have been below freezing for the past few days, it was just right for the snow to melt on the roads and then refreeze to make them icy. It’s not really at all what we were expecting, we were expecting a few inches of snow, but it was still enough for work to be canceled today.
We actually got some snow last night! Not much at all really, but school was canceled (due to ice on the parking lots) in the city and county. Which meant a delayed opening at work today, 10:00 instead of 8:30
A couple of cell phone pics:
I know it’s going to be short lived, but there’s actually snow coming down
Hoping that the temp drops pretty quick and we at least have a delayed opening at work tmw
Probably won’t happen, but worth hoping for anyways, lol.
All I ask is one thing, and I’m asking this particularly of young people: please don’t be cynical. I hate cynicism, for the record, it’s my least favorite quality and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.
