Not sure what’s up with today, but it sure has brought out some very unthoughtful, angry, and down right despicable people.
Drive to work
On our way to work this morning, we pull out of our street and proceed up to an All-Way stop, where there will soon be a red light when the construction is finished. There was a guy on a Harley behind us, they’re crazy enough to ride year-round, and pulling through the stop, he does what they all do, ride your butt. As we approached the next stop light, he cuts through the median to get into the turn lane that is further down the road, and cut us off. There’s not many times that I feel that it’s appropriate to lay on the horn, but this was one of them. Annoyed by the horn, he starts kicking his left foot trying to land on the kick-stand so that he can get off his bike. Now mind you, this is one of your typical Harley guys, which by no means intimidate me whatsoever. I’m not sure why, but when you get a Harley, you instantly become a bad-a, or at least that’s what the majority of the riders believe. They’re usually big, hairy, foul-mouthed, etc., but I’ll still stand my ground with them instead of cower. He walks back, is shorter than me, and in the goofiest voice ever, we have the following short conversation.

Just sitting here thinking about lunch yesterday, how funny it was. My brother and I was eating at Chick-fil-a, on the side next to the playground. The playground door was locked because it had rained earlier, and even with the lack of people sitting outside, that didn’t stop kids from trying to get out. This one little boy and I’m guessing his grandpa walked by to try to go outside, when the little boy noticed that my brother and I are twins. Now you’d think that’d be something that you’d get used to, to where you didn’t blush when you notice that it’s being pointed out. Yet when he proceeded to make sure everyone around us knew, I can only imagine how red I must have actually been. I’m a modest guy, so while I may have felt a little uncomfortable, it was so worth it to see that little guy’s face light up with excitement and the recurring smile I get when I think about the whole thing.
Lunch on a typical day is Chase and I clocking out at 1PM, choosing something that appeals to both of us for lunch, and hitting the drive-thru so we can eat and head back to work. Really lunch is more of an inconvenience in the sense that we’re required to take an entire hour while lunch could easily take just a few minutes. I’d rather just eat while working and get to go home an hour earlier. That is unless someone wants to get together and hang out for lunch.
Today we met up w/ our brother and sister-in-law and hung out at Panera Bread for lunch since they were in town. It’s a pretty new place to eat here in Dalton and is really neat. The inside has a warm feeling and reminded me alot of the sandwich shop that we ate at in Sedona. We had a good time just talking and hanging out, and before I knew it, we were late to clock back in to work. That’s how a lunch hour should be, enjoyable.
Here’s a couple of delicious Firehouse subs that I had while down in Florida. My usual is the Hook & Ladder, but an awesome manager gave us a Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket Sub to split and try. So now I’m torn between the two for my favorite.
First is the Hook & Ladder, with the tomato, lettuce, and onions left off, and next is the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket.
I’ve eaten ham from the store before and love it. But today I met up w/ my brother and his wife and had lunch with them at this place. This was the first time I’ve ever eaten inside of it. I had the classic ham sandwich. The inside of the store has a warm feeling to it instead of how some of the fast food places just seem colder inside. They even give you one of those little bags of Ruffles to go w/ your sandwich. It’s good stuff!
There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.
