Peeps

by Shane Holden – December 28, 2007

PeepsPeeps has got to be one of the best snacks there is that come out at the holidays.  I’ve actually got a few of them that I brought to work to snack on today.  Whoever came up w/ them did an awesome job because they’re not too sweet, they’re nice and fluffy, they’re just great!  IMO of course ;)

Since it was just Christmas a few days ago, I have the snowmen kind as pictured below

And here’s a funny thing I found on wikipedia about them.  Apparently people not only enjoy them by eating them, Peep eating contest included, but they also play jousting w/ them.  That is right, Peep Jousting.

Peep Jousting
The messy and largely self-entertaining game, “Peeps Jousting” is played with a microwave oven. One takes two Peeps, and licks the right-hand side of each until sticky. A toothpick is thereby adhered to each Peep, pointing forward like a jousting lance. The Peeps are then set in a microwave, squared off against one another, and heated up. As they expand, the toothpick lances thrust toward each opponent, and the winner is the one that does not pop and deflate (or fizzle and die). Both usually are eaten after the competition, however, regardless who the victor was, calling into question the nature of “winning” in such a circumstance.

Sounds interesting indeed, but I think I’ll just stick to eating them :)

Here is a picture that has all of the ones that they have made.

I like to leave them out of the package for a few days to get them a little firm, they seem to be 100% more tasty this way.

Got something to say?! Go for it!
