Our Unique “Pet” 03.18.08

Tags: ,

Since it’s been right at a year since she came here, I thought I’d share some about our unique pet that’s been hanging around.

Last March sometime, me, my dad, and my brother were on our way down to Miami to pick up my brother’s bike that he had bought.  At some point on the trip, my mom called and she was like, “You’ll never guess what is in the backyard!”  My response was “a Unicorn”  ROFL

TurkeyWell it ended up being this wild turkey that had somehow gotten in the backyard, and from where it came we have no idea.  She’s been living in our backyard every since.  When it gets close to sunset, she’ll fly up in one of the trees and crash there for the night.  Occassionally in the mornings she winds up on the other side of our fence and just paces back and forth wanting back in.  The way she paces it seems like she is worried to death to be on the outside and wants to be back inside the fence to be safe.  So we’ll open up the gate and let her back in so that no stray dogs or anything will bother her.

She seems to be very content living here.  She gets along w/ our dogs and cats, and pretty much just walks around the yard all day eating anything that she can find or some of the feed that we give her.

  1. How cool is that! I want a wild turkey to make my backyard it’s home. :)
