Some people have it; some people lack it. Out of the numerous qualities and values defining a person’s character, integrity is one of the more important ones to me. A person’s word is not taken for much nowadays, and it really is a shame because if you take away all of the material items, your word is really all you have.
I don’t know why, and probably never will, some people have no real desire to possess any personal integrity whatsoever. How hard is it to say you’ll do something, or that a certain something will or will not happen, and follow through with it? The worst part is that some people have made so many empty promises, that it is now a habit that they cannot break. Not even trying to have any at all is a peeve of mine.
It’s discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.
