Funny How Things Usually Work Out

I’ve been pretty stressed out lately with work.  See, I’m working on this project that I was allocated ~450hrs to complete, and it’s something that no one here has done before the way it’s being done.  So saying that you should be complete in X amount of hours really isn’t the right way to approach it.  But I understand for billing and financial record keeping and such that it had to be done this way.  And I really don’t think that I could get any more hours to finish it, but I guess there is a very slim chance that there could be.

Anyways, taking a stab at how much we had completed already, I would have guessed maybe around 60%.  That sounds like a good bit of work done, until you check out the fact that I have about 70hrs left to finish up. So today I find out that a huge portion that I assumed needed to be done doesn’t have to be :D So really we are close to the finish line and seem to be right on time.  Not bad considering this is the first time ever doing it.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes you can worry and get all stressed out about things, and they end up working out okay in the end?

  1. Now you have me wondering what the project is….Don’t suppose you could give a hint?

  2. Hey Marsha - I’m updating some attributes for about 125k addresses in our area for the 2010 Census. That much stuff in an excel spreadsheet makes you go crazy after a while! I’ll be glad when it’s over for sure. Thanks for the comments!

  3. I used to hear my friend saying that “Worry on something that might not happen is purely foolish, because when it does really happen, you will need to worry again”..
