Final Debate Tonight 10.15.08
Tags: Elections, News
I’ve watched all of the other debates for this election so far, so I’ll probably join in on watching the one tonight as well. As with many others, I’ve noticed an apparent trend, the trend of beating around the bush. Even when asked to give a ‘Yes or No’ answer, replies are given that can usually be counted in the hundreds of words.
Alot of people think the debates are boring to watch, but in all honesty, I think we should have more of them. More of the ones that give the public a chance to ask unique questions. They give us a chance to hear their stances on issues and compare them 1-on-1, and allow themselves to be put on the spot on issues unexpectedly.
No matter which side you are pulling for, tonight could be the deal breaker. Either way, it’ll be interesting come November 4th.

Indeed it shall be, Shane. I’ve heard that in this debate the format will change so that the moderator can press the candidate to expand their answers on issues. I hope this will make it more lively as they can feel a little stilted with just a short time limit to lay out policy.
I agree, whatever happens on election day it will reflect needed change, given American and Global issues currently.

Muse - You’re right, the format was changed up tonight, and I really liked it. I thought that I was going to like the Town Hall style better, but this one allowed them to continue on issues w/o being cut off before they could argue or get their points out.
One thing is for sure, whomever it is that takes the win is going to have their hands full. Between the wars, spending/budget, economy, deteriorating infrastructure, etc., it’s going to be a tough job.
