Drywall project, Day 1
December 9th, 2007Tags: Drywall
Saturday turned out really well. We started the day by stopping by Home Depot to pick up the rest of the drywall, 42 more sheets, and a concrete drill bit to use to anchor some 2×4s to the block wall. As you can see in the pics below, we needed to attach some 1×4 strips to the wall to leave spacing behind the drywall for any moisture that might occur, and also to attach the drywall on that bottom portion using screws. We offset a 2×4 on top of the block wall 3/4″ to match up w/ those strips and then proceeded to build a new stud wall on this bottom plate. I’d guestimate that we got the strips put up, bottom board anchored, and a new stud wall built and installed on about 30ft out of the ~70ft that there is to do.
I’m thinking another full day to finish the stud walls, and then be to the point that we can begin installing the drywall overhead and the walls.
As soon as my buddy shoots me some pics of the work that we completed yesterday I’ll post them up.
Anyways, here’s some before shots of the basement and where we are doing our work
