Dreading Christmas This Year 12.11.07

Ok, so Christmas this year is at my parents house.  And saying that, I have never dreaded Christmas more.  My mom apparently wanted to do the nice thing for my grandma, and invite over some family that has been pretty much MIA from contact until recently with my grandma for ~20 years.

Why am I dreading it you ask?  Because these are people that while may be relatives, are strangers at the same time.  What do you talk about to someone that you know absolutely nothing about?

I know exactly what it is going to be for myself.  I’ll most like be sitting there, listening to all of the awkwardness of them trying to get to know each other all over again.  Hoping that they don’t ask me a thing about my personal life and having to hear the responses from my family about where I work, what I do, why I didn’t go to college, if I have a GF now or not, when I’m going to move out, etc. etc. etc…

I’ve been telling my parents, that if I ever had a holiday that they would just pass me up on, this one is it.  Not the Thanksgiving dinner that they did w/o me!  Long story short, we all talked it over and agreed that we would do Thanksgiving on the Monday after I returned from FL, but turns out that they did it on Sunday w/ my other brother and SIL.  Talk about feeling left out Now they seem to think that I am exaggerating how it bothered me that they did that, but it was Thanksgiving ya know?  Not just another dinner.  Thanksgiving!!!
