Fall TV Lineup 2010

by Shane Holden on September 27, 2010

One of the best parts of fall is all of the normal shows coming back on with new episodes, and even some new premiers.

Much like last year, these are the current ones not to miss:

  • Survivor: Nicaragua, CBS 8:00 EST Wednesday
  • How I Met Your Mother, CBS 8:00 EST Monday
  • Big Bang Theory, CBS 8:00 EST Thursday
  • Two and a Half Men, CBS 9:00 EST Monday
  • Undercover Boss, CBS 9:00 EST Sunday

These may be added to the not to miss list, assuming they survive:

  • Mike & Molly, CBS 9:30 EST Monday
  • The Event, NBC 9:00 EST Monday

Looks like I’ll have to watch at least one of them online since they share the same airing time.  Which works out great, as I’m now revisiting the two seasons of October Road that came on a couple of years ago.  Which was another great show that was killed off prematurely!

What Cancer Can’t Do

by Shane Holden on September 20, 2010

What Cancer Can’t Do

Cancer is so limited.  It cannot cripple love.  It cannot shatter hope.  It cannot corrode faith.  It cannot eat away peace.  It cannot destroy confidence.  It cannot kill friendship.  It cannot shut out memories.  It cannot silence courage.  It cannot invade the soul.  It cannot reduce eternal life.  It cannot quench the spirit.  It cannot lesson the power of the resurrection.  Amen—amen.

Fall Rod Run Today

by Shane Holden on September 18, 2010

After making sure that it’s totally okay with Mom, and that my Dad will be with her, Chase and I are leaving in just a few minutes to go to the Fall Rod Run in Pigeon Forge.  We went up to the one this past Spring, but even after going many times over the past 8 or 9 years, this will be the first Fall one that we’ve gone to.  You hear different things about which is actually better, but regardless, it’ll be nice to get out of Dalton for a little while.  We’ll be back home late tonight sometime, depending on if we get stuck in traffic again, and will hopefully have a much needed good time.

Lovin’ Chrome

by Shane Holden on September 17, 2010

Google Chrome that is.  I’m really not that big of a fan of Google, but their browser is pretty slick.  It isn’t bloated with all of those unused buttons, and just seems so much snappier than the other alternatives.  I’ve really liked Firefox, but for some reason it usually starts eating up my computer’s memory until I have to close it through Task Manager.  I’ll probably still use each of the different browsers for different sites, as it’s a hard habit to break launching the same browser you have for years.  Honestly though, I’d be a bigger fan of Google if they would cut their ties with working with the NSA and CIA.  Perhaps I’m just cynical, but I just can’t see any good coming from someone as large as Google teaming up with an Administration that is determined to make our internet more like China, ex. an Internet Kill Switch.  But until then, I’ll selectively use services they offer that I can benefit from that are better than the alternatives.

That Guilty Feeling

by Shane Holden on September 9, 2010

Mom says “don’t put your lives on hold,” but that’s so hard to do.  She has some good days, some bad days, some really good days, and some really bad days.  She’s only been taking treatment for just over a week now, but that guilty/bad feeling is what I get if I start to want to get out and go do something, even if just for a few, if there’s no one staying with her.  And I know that it probably makes her feel bad if we ask if she minds, but that’s only because we care enough to not do what we’d like to do if it makes her feel better to have someone there.

I don’t know of anyone I see in person regularly that reads my blog, but if there happens to be let me just say this.  If I seem a little preoccupied at times, different than normal, or even distant occasionally, just know that I have a lot on my mind is the reason.  I’m usually pretty good at hiding things, but sometimes that’s what slips through the cracks.

A guy and a girl can be just friends, but at one point or another, they will fall for each other…Maybe temporarily, maybe at the wrong time, maybe too late, or maybe forever. — Dave Matthews
