Savannah Bound

May 24th, 2008

After I get a chance to run to the mall and get a quick haircut, my brother and I are heading down to Savannah Georgia.  Depending on what everyone else’s game plan is for the job that we are going to be doing tomorrow, whether it be to get a head start on it  tonight or just hold off until tomorrow, a trip to the beach may be in store  Going to the beach for just an hour or so, is kind of like getting one lick of ice cream on an ice cream cone, but some is better than none.  Too bad we weren’t going for a few days, the beach (and scenery ;) ) is very awesome and the ocean is fun.  Being that this is Memorial Day weekend, I bet the GSP will be in full force, so better watch the speed limit

Today’s Gas Prices

May 23rd, 2008

Gas GaugeToday on the way to work we noticed that two gas stations at the same intersection had about a 17¢ difference in the 87 octane gas price.  Which naturally told me that the lower price station was about to do a price increase.  We stopped and filled up since we were sitting at ¼ of a tank anyways.  Sure enough, coming back through there, less than 30 minutes later, showed the expected price increase.

I think over the next few days, maybe a week or so, North Georgia will be seeing $4/gal for the low grade.  Even with this price, and Read the rest of this entry »

McDonald’s Chicken Sandwich

May 16th, 2008

Along w/ the estimated 8 million other people that were expected to give it a shot, I was lured to McDonald’s yesterday to give their chicken sandwich a try for lunch.  Yesterday was a promotional day that gave anyone ordering a medium or large drink a free chicken sandwich.  My lunch break is at 1PM, so places are typically a little crowded, but they were packed w/ people yesterday.  I guess the current situation w/ the economy, gas prices, and everything, people just couldn’t turn down the offer for an almost free lunch. Memorial Week Plans

May 12th, 2008

I’ve got my leave request filled out for Tuesday-Friday after Memorial Day weekend and will turn it in today for approval.

My parents are building them a new place in McCaysville Georgia, a very small town about 60 or so miles away from here, so that whenever my dad retires they can move over there and live. They are both from around that area, and love the feeling of a small town rather than Dalton. Dalton’s cons for them are: having just a half acre lot, living in a subdivision, neighbors that have drinking parties and have their music playing til way late at night, gangs, gang graffiti, traffic, etc… I’m used to all of that, but they love McCaysville so much better. Depressing Sundays

May 11th, 2008

I haven’t quite figured out why, but for as long as I can remember there has always been something depressing about Sundays.  I can’t really think of any other way to describe the feeling other than depressing.  I think if I were to lose track of time for a while, I could pick Sunday out as soon as it came around.  Everything just seems so different.  And I think it’s more than just the fact that it is the last day of the weekend before heading back to work on Monday.

Today was Mother’s Day, which made it a little different from the normal Sunday.  It was nice having my bro and SIL up and us all eating together and just spending time around the house w/ mom.  I started it out like I always do and wished my mom a Happy Mother’s Day w/ a hug as soon as I seen her after I woke up this morning.

I hope anyone reading this had a nice Mother’s Day today as well :)

Survivor & Lost

May 8th, 2008

Now that the season of Big Brother is over, the only two can’t miss shows that I’m watching are Survivor and Lost.

This season of Survivor seems like one of the shortest ever. I think them bringing back the “favorites” kind of hurt the show rather than help it. Everyone already knows how they each play their game, so that has taken a bit of the excitement from the show, in my opinion of course. Even with that, I still don’t miss it each thursday. This season has had the most blindsides and backstabbing ever, which adds to the drama that makes you want to see it each week. Read the rest of this entry »

Not Too Much Happening

May 2nd, 2008

I haven’t blogged in a few days because not too much is really happening. My brother and I finished up that Census project we were on, and so far have only got one back to be resubmitted after correcting a few things  We’ve been working outside for the past 3 days GPSing the utility poles, fire hydrants, crosswalk poles, water valves, and any other major thing along a road that is about 5 miles long in total. Included w/ all that stuff is also the edge of the asphault. So now that it is May and nice and warm out, I’m pretty burnt from the sun. You’d think I’d learn to remember the sunscreen

Tomorrow we are heading down to Watkinsville, Georgia to do another security install for my brother. It’s probably one of the better ways to spend a wet saturday..making some money ;)
