What a Relief

February 28th, 2008

Whew…just when I thought that I’d be back in the office for the next few months something comes up :) We were asked to collect ~150 more railroad crossings in 3 other counties.  These are quite a distance away, so there’s going to be some added travel time in there which will give us 2 weeks worth of field work.  I was asked if I wanted to do them or if we should just pass on it, and my response was that I WANTED to do them, lol.  So obviously I have grown a bit tired of the desk work over the years and have very much enjoyed the time outside and want more of it! ;)

Bad Day [Joke]

February 28th, 2008

A little guy is sitting at the bar just staring at his drink for half an hour when this big trouble-making biker steps next to him, grabs his drink and gulps it down in one swig. The poor little guy starts crying.

“Come on man. I was just giving you a hard time,” the biker says. “I didn’t think you’d CRY. I can’t stand to see a man crying.”

“This is the worst day of my life,” says the little guy between sobs.

“I can’t do anything right. I overslept and was late to an important meeting, so my boss fired me.  When I went to the parking lot, I found my car was stolen and I don’t have any insurance.  I grabbed a cab home.  But, after the cab left, I discovered my wallet was still in the cab.  At home I found my wife in bed with the gardener and my dog bit me.  So I came to this bar trying to work up the courage to put an end to my life, and then you show up and drink the damn poison.”

Just Some Updates

February 27th, 2008

Unfortunately I’m back in the office now :( Field work just doesn’t seem to last long enough.  We managed to GPS close to 200 different track intersections over the last few days.  The only one that we needed to get that we didn’t, was on the interestate at a point that has a narrow shoulder and is at the very end of the on-ramp.  My brother and I both came to the decision that we don’t get paid enough to risk getting nailed trying to collect that one.  The traffic on I-75 is like always 80+, so that one was kind of on the dangerous side. Family Photos

February 22nd, 2008

I’m not a big fan of having my picture taken at all, but my oldest brother is wanting to get us all together and go get some family photos taken since we have all grown older.  The last ones we had taken were at the old firestation next to our Elementary school probably 18 years or so.  Long time I know, huh?

I dread it, but assuming that we are all able to get together and go, I’ll be glad that we did it one of these days.

My Latest Afternoon Project

February 20th, 2008

In our house, upstairs we have a 2nd bathroom.  Which actually has always been more of a bathroom-to-be.  It’s always been unfinished for as long as I can remember, just an empty room, no sheetrock or anything.  It would have been nice to have been complete when we were younger, but due to other things and of course work, my parents never had the time to do it. Got Malware or Adware?

February 18th, 2008

If you’ve caught something on your computer that constantly gives you annoying popups, advertisements, and anything else that is extremely annoying, and can’t seem to remove it with your regular software, I’d recommend giving the guys at Cyber Tech Help forum a shout.

At work we had a computer that had a trojan that Norton just couldn’t seem to Quarantine, and the computer had problems with ads popping up when using IE, so I got the task of cleaning it up.  Read the rest of this entry »

5-Year High School Reunion

February 17th, 2008

There’s nothing like a slap in the face from the hand of reality to make you realize how quickly time passes by.  I got a message from a friend that I went to high school with a few days ago that our 5 year class reunion was coming up this summer sometime.  I think I’ve gotten into the regular routine of work and haven’t really paid attention at how long it has actually been.  It seems so like last week that we were cutting up in class, worrying about some big test, waiting and wishing that the last day would hurry up and come, but the fact is that it has already been 5 years since then.  I’ll be honest Read the rest of this entry »

Field Work

February 13th, 2008

I so forgot how much more I enjoy work when I’m doing field work rather than office.  All week this week we have been outside driving to each railroad crossing in particular counties and GPSing them.  The week goes by so much faster not sitting in the office all day.  Monday and Tuesday were pretty nice outside, but today was very cold.  I think it was in the 20s when then wind chill was factored in.  Not bad for some of you I know  but we’re not really all that used to it  Read the rest of this entry »

So Friday Was My B-Day

February 10th, 2008

So friday was my birthday, and I’m officially 23 now  lol.  I don’t like birthdays at all and they totally come around faster now it seems.  But friday was really just another day.  My oldest bro and SIL took me and my bro out for lunch since it was our birthdays.  It was great to get to spend the lunch hour with them and just chill and talk about things.

Mine and Chase’s birthday is on the 8th, and my oldest brother’s is on the 11th.  So my parents took all of us Read the rest of this entry »

What’s With All These Celebrities!?!

February 7th, 2008

So I just read on MSN that Kirsten Dunst just got checked into rehab.  Which leads me to ask the question, what in the world is up with all of these celebrities?  They have what alot of people would consider the perfect life, meaning they have the money to do what they want and where they want, yet they cannot control themselves.  I mean wow, if having all of that money and fame is that hard to deal with, toss some of that money this way.  You sure wouldn’t see me needing any rehab or getting in all of this trouble that some of them are!
